Experience & Activities
Mr. Travis Adams is the team lead for the USACE Technical Center of Expertise (TCX) in Welding and Metallurgy. He has worked for USACE for 26 years specializing in the design and fabrication of steel structures. Mr. Adams has vast experience in design, detailing, analysis, welding, inspection, and fit-for-service analysis. Mr. Adams serves as a subject matter expert for USACE in steel design, detailing, welding quality control/assurance across a range of dam, powerhouse, and water resources related projects. He leads a team of engineers and inspection staff specializing in steel fabrication and inspection. Mr. Adams has designed numerous Hydraulic Steel Structures and has performed hundreds of HSS inspections for USACE and other Federal Agencies. Mr. Adams has performed and supervised fit-for-service analysis and repairs to rehabilitate steel structures. Mr. Adams was a team member and primary author of PIANC Working Group 189 “Fatigue in Hydraulic Steel Structures” and is currently serving as the secretary and primary author of the chapter on Gates, Valves, and Temporary Closure Structures for PIANC WG 206 “Design of Navigation Locks.” Mr. Adams instructs USACE Courses 116 “Welding Design”, 162 “Welding Quality Verification” and 343 “Introduction to Hydraulic Steel Structures.” Inspections and courses instructed in The United States, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Guam, Korea, Panama, and The Netherlands.
